Metallic Ombre Mani How To

August 15th, 2012

I have been on a roll of wearing all nude on my nails and toes lately. While I didn’t want to abandon my fave nude shade altogether, I thought I would mix it up a little and add something you know I am obsessed with: ombre. You can use any metallic color you desire – here I used a silver metallic nail shade over the nude. Check out the metallic ombre mani how to below!

You will need your  nails colors, a top coat, and a makeup sponge.

Step 1: Start with trimmed, shaped nails with a base coat. I like to use Nailtiques Formula 2 since my nails are thin.

Step 2: Paint 2 coats of the nude shade on your nails. I used Essie Sand Tropez.

Step 3: After nails are dry, paint a line at the top of the nail (it doesn’t need to be perfect).

Step 4: Before the line dries, take the makeup sponge and tap it over the metallic shade, taking some of the color down the nail slightly. Add another line of metallic polish to intensify the effect and repeat, leaving more at the top this time.

Step 5: Apply top coat and voila!
