Just Maui’d

May 21st, 2013

I am back with wedding recaps! Well, this is a recap of the honeymoon, which counts in my book. I have decided to wait until we get the beautiful professional photos back to show you lovely readers the rest of the wedding.

When the hubby and I were deciding on honeymoon locations, we knew we wanted somewhere with a beach so we could just relax, get a tan, drink, and did I say relax? Usually all of our vacation days are spent visiting his family in France (oh poor us!), so we never get to have alone time while vacationing. We were deciding between Tahiti and Hawaii and ultimately chose Hawaii. The selling point was the ease in which we could get there (since it is a pretty short flight from San Francisco), as well as excellent recommendations for hotels and sightseeing from our family and friends. With no effort at all, we had a huge list of must-do’s and restaurants handy!

We started at Honua Kai resort in Kaanapali, which was breathtaking. Had we done it over, we would have stayed here the whole time. The hotel was top notch. It had great pools, restaurants and was beach front. From there, we drove down to Wailea and stayed at the Marriott. It was beautiful as well, with an incredible serenity pool. We fell in love with Maui and can’t wait until our next trip to Hawaii. This turned out to be exactly the honeymoon I had dreamed of, shared with the man of my dreams! Check out my instagram feed for other photos – enjoy!

Snagged our maid to take a photo of us on our balcony.

Shaved ice was such a treat in the hot sun. We were told Ululani’s was the best, so it was the only one we tried!

View from the car on our drive from Kaanapali to Wailea. There was so much traffic from an accident, we ended up pulling over and spending time on this beach.

Some of the many, many pina coladas we had this trip.

Gorgeous view near the Wailea Marriott.

I sported my rainbow bikini to swim with the fishes.

Ran into this big guy while we were in the water. So cute! Can I take him home?

Managed to get someone else to snap our photo!

Literally the best fish tacos I have ever had at Coconuts Fish Cafe.

We saw the Te Au Moana Luau at the Wailea Marriott, which was amazing. The food was good and the performance was magical. (Excuse the dude who decided to stand up while I was taking a photo – how ruuude).

This was one of the luau performers showing us how they make coconut milk. I went on to inform the new hubs that this would now become one of his daily duties as a husband (including the outfit).

Mrs. Twirly Skirts

May 10th, 2013

Our wedding went off without a hitch and I am officially a Mrs. (Mrs. Twirly Skirts to you)! It has been awhile since I posted last, but the madness has subsided and I can finally begin to recap all the wedding details for my lovely readers.

For starters, I will begin with my favorite element – the wedding dress of course! I knew I wanted a lace dress and I knew I wanted a mermaid silhouette. While those may seem like pretty open search fields, the options were not as endless as I had hoped, which made the search tough. I first looked up in norther Cali with my family, then by myself in LA last year. I finally made a trip up to Bridal Galleria here in San Francisco and fell in love with my Jim Hjelm dress (Jim Hjelm 8210). The low back and the deep sweet heart neck were swoon-worthy features. The champagne underlay of the dress gave it a vintage feel. I paired the dress with a stunning Lazaro belt (which was pricey, but sooo worth the splurge in the end). The belt took the dress to a new level, and made it a touch more modern, which complimented our modern yet romantic wedding. I left the other accessories to a minimum, just adding small drop earrings for jewelry. The veil was made on Etsy by Alisa Brides and I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I fell in love with a veil and she was able to recreate it for a third of the price!

The professional photos from the amazing Jeffrey Neal are yet to come, but here are some dress pics that were taken by friends and family.

Madness!

April 3rd, 2013

With all the last minute wedding plans coming together (our wedding is later this month!), as well as finally getting up to speed at my new job, my head is spinning! Hence the severe lack of posts on the blog lately… I hope to get things squared away and back to a normal schedule soon, but right now, with a million emails, calls, calendar reminders and to-do lists, it is madness!

Bachelorette Party Recap

March 19th, 2013

So, my bachelorette party was all I had imagined and more:) It was filled with champagne, drag queens, pink candy, penis-shaped items, and froot loop vodka – really everything a bachelorette party should entail. Here are some tid-bits (some not the best quality – but they get the job done) from the fabulous day – a day I will surely never forget! ♥
