A Men’s Fashion Moment

February 28th, 2012

It has been way too long since my last men’s fashion moment so I had to share this fab photo of my fiancé. (He is away on a business trip this week and gosh I miss this wrist!) I caught this shot while I was impatiently waiting for him to take some blog shots of me. I love how he wears his own version of an arm party every day. I am not a huge fan of necklaces on guys, but I definitely think a subtle arm party is the way to go. ♥

Playing Fashion Police: 2012 Oscars

February 27th, 2012

I’m here again to give you my take on the fashion hits and misses from last night’s Oscars. I would love to hear what you thought about the looks from the red carpet. Did you think there were more misses than hits? ♥

The Good:

Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen looks stunning in her dress that is truly a piece of art.

Octavia Spencer’s Tadashi Shoji gown was so well made and fits her like a glove. She looks so glam!

Rooney Mara looks straight off the runway in her Givenchy gown. Her unique structured hair makes this look so modern.

Michelle Williams added curves with this poppy colored Louis Vuitton gown with peplum detail.

Meryl Streep looks better than ever in this structured yet somewhat flowy Lanvin gown.

Fave Couple Fashion:

Brangelina can literally do no wrong in my opinion. Although this photo does her dress no justice, I thought Angelina pulled off black like never before.

The Bad:

Natalie Portman in Christian Dior unfortunately looks like she is ready for the prom circa 1995.

As much as I adore Melissa McCarthy, this dress did her no justice and was much too busy on the top portion.

First thing I said after seeing Nancy O’Dell: “ahhhhh!”.

Emma Stone’s Giambattista Valli gown just comes off as a lesser version of Nicole Kidman’s 2007 Oscar look.

Hair Inspiration

February 24th, 2012

I found this fabulous new take on a ponytail over at The Beauty Department and just had to share. I am definitely going to rock this style over the weekend. Plus – her hair color is inspiring me to up the ombré factor on my own locks. Octavio, here I come! Happy Friday! ♥

Snakeskin

February 23rd, 2012

sweater: Zara, pants: Blank NYC, shoes: Rockport c/o Online Shoes

Up until now, snakeskin is a print I have kept for accessories only. I have a few pairs of shoes (1, 2, 3) and even a clutch with the print. But I’m taking it up a notch with this sweater from Zara. The print is very subtle so it doesn’t scream “ahh snake!” I paired this with my new favorite pants of the moment. I was inspired to snag them after seeing The Glamourai rocking them here. They have yet to let me down as they go with everything and are so comfortable! ♥

The Story

February 22nd, 2012

After all the sweet comments about our engagement, I figured I owe you all the story! First of all, thank you for the many congratulations – I couldn’t be happier or more excited to be engaged to the love of my life. Let the excessive champagne drinking commence!

The story is short and sweet and very “us”. On Valentine’s Day (after we got home from work) we went to Whole Foods to grab a few things for dinner then took Gaston for a walk. As usual, I changed into my sweats as soon as we got home and Martin was not changing, which was weird. So I insisted he join me in comfy clothes. Martin then cooked a delish meal for us and then we started watching tv and cuddling on the couch. At one point, Martin went into the other room and picked up Gaston. He came over and said the sweetest things about how he loves our life together and wants to continue it forever. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was completely shocked and had no idea because by this time I had not only been wearing sweats, but had washed off my makeup, taken out my contacts and put on my glasses! I love that he surprised me and did it in such a personal way that was just us, in our home, being us. ♥
