Stylish Capes

September 30th, 2011

I have always been on the fence with how I feel about capes. This season, however, I decided I am all in with the vast array of stylish capes flowing in for fall. I love the idea of a cape because it gives off an almost mysterious vibe but commands attention. Doesn’t it also kind of make you want to try to fly? No? Just me? ♥

Messy Hairstyles

September 29th, 2011

Usually the best hairstyles are the ones that look like you just haphazardly threw up your locks. We all know that it actually takes some technique to achieve messy-yet-fab hairstyles. I previously shared a similar messy hairstyle that is one of my go-to’s. But when browsing Pinterest, I found several more that I need to test out! So hopefully I will be successful and you will see them showcased here soon! Which is your fave? ♥

Red and Brown

September 28th, 2011

vest and dress: Target, scarf: Nordstrom, sandals: Havaianas, ring: Urban Outfitters, bracelets: homemade and from France, earrings: Forever 21

In an attempt to stay cool in this heat while still transitioning into the fall spirit, I concocted this red and brown outfit. The color scheme screams fall, however the cool airy maxi dress kept me from sweating it out. By layering a vest and scarf on top of a very summer-appropriate dress, I feel the look fits a little better into this time of year. I added a pop of lip color to add more richness to the look. I wish I could have donned a more fab shoe to spruce my outfit up even more, but a knee injury is forcing me to stick to the basics. ♥

Modern Home Decor: Swedish Style

September 27th, 2011

I absolutely love IKEA and usually for budget reasons, tend to shop there for my biggest pieces. The modern and simplistic aesthetic is what draws me in. I love the clean lines and bright colors that the store carries and our apartment is decorated with lots of black, white, neutrals and pops of color. It’s no wonder I was awestruck when I stumbled upon another Swedish furniture company, A2 Designers on Casa Sugar recently. Although the line us much pricier than IKEA stuff, the unique features like raised triangles on the front of various items make it worth the splurge! Each piece is handmade in Sweden and would be a definite statement maker. Some of their designs like the black and white No. 42 cabinet above and the sculptural Angle/Shelf below are just begging to move into our apartment! ♥

Transitional Outfits

September 26th, 2011

top & sunnies: Nordstrom, shorts: American Eagle, boots & cuff: Urban Outfitters, necklace: Bauble Bar

As much as I don’t want to say goodbye to summer, the excitement of mixing up my wardrobe definitely gets me in the mood for a season change. Sometimes it is hard to find transitional outfits for the period where it is still kind of warm but it feels silly to rock the usual summer clothes. This season, with the trend of denim shorts as a layering device, the transition is easier. I love the idea of wearing denim shorts all year round and plan to wear them with tights in even colder months. I hope to experiment with even more transitional outfits using basic summer staples like maxi dresses (as seen here). Cheers to the start of fall! ♥
