Studded Watermelon

June 30th, 2011

dress: Young, Fabulous & Broke, sunnies: Dior, earrings: Forever 21, booties: Nine West

First off – can we please ignore the fact that this tee dress got ridiculously wrinkled while I was at work? Ok, thanks! The simplicity of a tee dress like this basic one is always appealing to me. I found this Young, Fabulous & Broke one with an embellished pocket via Gilt and was drawn to the . I also adore the American Apparel short sleeve tee dress for its versatility. Since this was the first time wearing this dress, I wanted to let it speak for itself and not add anything but jewelry as accessories. Next time I put it on, it will be accompanied by a belt and a vest or scarf to play with it. Keep your eyes peeled for the next appearance of this studded watermelon fiasco. ♥

Independence Day Dress

June 29th, 2011

I put together the above easy, breezy beautiful little ensemble that would work perfectly for the upcoming 4th of July celebration. This dress can then be worn for practically anything by taking away the red and blue accessories. Wear it with a blazer and simple flats for work, or with a belt and sky-high heels for a summer night date! Here is how I would wear it after Independence Day. ♥

Top Outfit:

1. Super Sunglasses Basic Sunglasses

2. Soludos Barca Striped Flat Espadrilles

3. Joie Baylyn Dress

4. Kenneth Cole Half Moon Necklace

5. Kenneth Jay Lane Red and Gold Stud Bangle

Bottom Outfit:

1. Kate Spade NY Blocked Straw Hat

2. Joie Baylyn Dress

3. Jay King Yellow Quartz Necklace

4. Charles David Karel Wedge Sandal

It’s a Wrap!

June 28th, 2011

sunnies: Dior, dress: H&M, shoes: Cathy Jean, bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I love wrap dresses – especially Diane von Furstenberg dresses (as previously seen here). However, there are many other (non-designer) wrap dresses on the market that are fabulous as well. I found this bright summery dress at H&M a few years ago and am in love every time I put it on. The print does all the talking so keep a dress this loud simple with just a few accessories like studs and a simple bracelet with plain pumps or flats. Get the look with a DVF dress, this Tibi version or a more affordable option. ♥

Dressing Down Basics

June 27th, 2011

sunnies: Dior, necklace: Anthropologie, shirt: Victorias Secret, skirt: Forever 21 (similar one here), belt: Urban Outfitters, sandals: Cathy Jean

This outfit is kind of a take on an outfit I wore earlier on the blog here. I wore basics with this belt and necklace in about the same color family. Here I switched in flat sandals for the heels and threw on a headband which takes this look from more fancy to casual (exactly what I was feeling). Sometimes I like changing an outfit just slightly in order to get a bit of variety with little effort. Just one more way to make the most of your wardrobe without being repetitive. ♥

Cover Up, Shmover Up

June 24th, 2011

Sometimes I think so-called cover ups are just too darn fabulous to only be worn at the beach, just to be taken off and thrown into a beach bag. Point in case: this gorgeous Diane von Furstenberg number. Yes, I do realize it is sheer and, no, I am not suggesting to wear this with a bra and panties peeking through. Enter: the layering tank dress. Use one, like this versatile James Perse version, to go under/over practically anything this summer. Throw on dangly earrings, a crazy cool cuff and a fab pair of wedges and this “cover up” is transformed into a summer date night outfit. ♥
