Love to Hate Her

January 31st, 2011

As an avid fan of the Bachelor and -ette on ABC, I was definitely tuned in for tonight’s  episode. Each Monday night I live to see what the girls have to say as well as what they decide to put on. Needless to say there are plenty of times where the rose ceremony turns into a bad prom flashback. Luckily, a few girls always pull through for me and provide a weekly dose of fashion inspiration. This season, as much as I hate to say it, Michelle (yes, the snatch) has never failed to look stunning (well, besides the time she miraculously woke up with a black eye). Tonight she rocked a hot zebra number and a huge statement necklace. The necklace was unexpected and full of color and metallics. With her hair pulled back into a wildly voluminous ponytail, she lets her outfit do the talking. Michelle has often worn ensembles that show fun juxtaposition of natural colors and fabrics with funky metallics like in the photos below. I gotta say, I love to hate that girl! ♥

Juxtaposition

January 29th, 2011

After a morning of lounging around our apartment, my boyfriend and I decided to venture out and enjoy the remainder of the sunny day in Los Angeles. I knew I had to pick something up from my sister who lives in Beverly Hills, so we decided to go meander about Robertson Boulevard. I wanted to put on something comfortable to carry on the loungy feeling I was having today. Yet you can’t go strolling on Robertson looking anything less than fab. I chose this top from Urban Outfitters that has sheer panels which was perfect for this slightly warm day. I paired it with faded jeans to dress it down and some moto boots.  I love the juxtaposition of moto boots with feminine pieces. One of my fav statement necklaces was plucked from the display in my previous post and this topped off the look. ♥

Adorn your Walls

January 28th, 2011

I am obsessed with Etsy.com for so many reasons. One of them is because it has transformed what was, as Rachel Zoe would say, a clusterfuck of necklaces into a gorge display. I have collected so many necklaces because I am a sucker for a powerful statement piece. Problem is – these pieces take up A LOT of space in a little jewelry case! I took to the pages of Etsy.com to find an affordable necklace rack that didn’t compete with the beauty of the necklaces themselves. I found this one shown on my wall here and had no problem filling it up. I forced myself to do some early spring cleaning and edited my collection down. I am now able to fit a few bracelets on the side! I love the idea of allowing pretty baubles to decorate a section of your room. I have my Red Envelope jewelry box left open where some precious photos peek out at me as I choose my accessories for the day. So now I won’t feel so bad when I don’t wear a piece for a while because I know it is getting some show time decorating my room. ♥

Bonne Nuit

January 26th, 2011

Being that today is my 3 year anniversary with my boyfriend, I got thinking about, well, lingerie of course! I adore lingerie and the idea of wearing special undergarments regularly. However, sometimes lingerie is too fussy to be stuffed under everyday clothing. I love finding pretty little pieces that not only work well as actual undergarments, but are meant to be incorporated into your outfit. Imagine my thrill when I stumbled upon these little beauties from Free People! They are so romantic, you could wear them alone while cooking a sexy anniversary dinner for your man, but functional enough that you could throw a deep v-neck sweater over them and wear them out and about. ♥

Taking a Twirl

Welcome to Twirly Skirts! The decision to create this blog came pretty suddenly. I recently started taking on some PR responsibilities at work and instantly fell in love. While I love my job (I work at a toy company) – my biggest passion is fashion! Why shouldn’t I hone my PR skills while simultaneously venting about clothes, accessories, beauty tips, celeb style inspirations and even home decor? The name for this blog – as you can read in the “About Molliee” section – came from the first article of clothing that really inspired me. In this blog I will use inspiration from family, friends, celebs, or any random passerby. I encourage comments because I believe the more fashionable ideas in your repertoire the more fabulous you will look, the more beautiful you will feel, and the more inspired you will be. ♥
